Political activist and founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has disclosed that the revelations that will be unearthed in the criminal libel case instituted by Chief Afe Babalola against human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi will be better even than the ones in the latter’s book, “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.”
The AAC presidential candidate made the statement in an interview with Rudolf Okonkwo on 90MinutesAfrica on Sunday.
“A lot of people are doing a better job than he (Dele Farotimi) could have imagined. Revelations better than he has written in his book will come out,” Sowore disclosed.
He further reiterated the importance of protecting Mr. Farotimi so that he will be alive throughout the process.
Sowore expressed confidence that the human rights lawyer will triumph over his accusers. He believed that the case against Mr. Farotimi was already weakened by the process of his arrest, which was not done in accordance with the law.
“The bulk of the work has been done in the way and manner they carried out his arrest and persecution as it is not a prosecution. So if I was him, I would just ask people to send me plenty of books,” the former UniLag Students’ Union president said.
In addition, Sowore said that Chief Afe Babalola miscalculated in going after Dele Farotimi in the manner he did. He said that the learned silk would soon realise that this case is not of the Federal Republic vs. Dele Farotimi but between Afe Babalola and the Nigerian people.
