Governor Alex Otti, has distanced himself from a circulating post of purported N25,000 Christmas cash transfer, describing it as a scam.
The Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Njoku Ukoha Njoku, advised unsuspecting members of the public against falling prey to the pranks of those behind the scam.
He said that the post was a deliberate attempt by criminals to scam gullible members of the public.
The statement read in part: “There is a circulating SCAM Post about a ₦25,000 Christmas Cash Grant from Governor Alex Otti.
“The post is a deliberate criminal attempt to deceive and scam the unsuspecting public.
“The General Public is hereby advised to ignore the scam as the Law Enforcement Agencies have been alerted to investigate and apprehend the fraudsters.
“All Social Investment, Welfare and Intervention Programmes of the Governor and Government of Abia State are published on the Official Website of Abia State Government.”
