The New State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Mr Basil Igwebueze says he is determined to end crude oil bunkering and environmental degradation experienced in some parts of Imo State.
Mr Igwebueze gave the assurance during an interaction with Journalists in Owerri.
He hinted that the Command under his watch would step up intelligence gathering to complement the efforts of other security agencies in fighting insecurity.
The new NSCDC commandant appealed to residents of the state to avail the command of useful information that would help to the arrest of non-state actors that were working to destabilise the South-East.
He also promised to check the activities of unregistered private security outfits operating in the area to ensure sanity in the practice.
“If we avail the corridor of power with the requisite intelligence then the government will be more determined to make sure that all efforts are chanelled towards making the citizens sleep with their two eyes closed and go about their daily businesses without any recourse to threat on their lives and property.”
