A resident of Enugu, Mr Israel Igwe, has appealed to the Enugu State government, security agencies, relevant agencies of government and the civil society organisations to intervene over alleged rape and missing of his sister, Miss Blessing Igwe in Enugu.
He made the appeal in a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu.
Igwe said that the missing of his sister has thrown his immediate family and the entire Ntalakwu Oboro Village, in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, into confusion.
Igwe said: “I reside at No. 316 New Town Layout (by Freeworld Hotel) Emene, Enugu, Enugu State. I wish to lay this complaint and possibly seek your swift intervention on this matter that my entire family found most disturbing.
“The victim, Miss Blessing Nzubechi Igwe, is my younger sister, who is 32 years old.
“She has been experiencing some psychiatric symptoms against which my family sought for urgent medical attention, at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu.
“Subsequently, my Sister was admitted at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu on the 9th of August 2024.
“While she was at the hospital I did visit her often and I was monitoring her progression and providing the necessary things that were required.”
He alleged that, in a bizarre circumstances, his sister Miss Igwe unexpectedly got pregnant while she was in the hospital.
“At the moment, my sister is about five months pregnant. The pregnancy test result is intact and can be made available if the need be,” he said.
He said that while his sister was still in the hospital on January 15th 2025, “I received a call from the hospital informing me that my sister was missing and that my presence was urgently needed at the hospital.”
“When I got to the hospital they gave me the hospital bill and informed me that they do not know my sister’s whereabouts.
“Since then we have searched every nook and cranny of both my home State (Abia) and Enugu State but she is nowhere to be found.
“All the entreaties made to the hospital management to give any reasonable account as to my sisters whereabouts proved futile.
“It is discernable from the background that the life of my sister is in imminent danger,” Igwe lamented.
He described the situation as helpless and appealed to authorities to intervene and rescue his sister.
“I appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to kindly rise to this occasion and save my poor sister from being lynched untimely,” he said.
All efforts to speak to the management of the hospital has proved abortive.
