Detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed furry and disappointed over what he called poor knowledge of the law by Nigeria courts after his trial was adjourned sine die by Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court on Monday.
Kanu voiced his frustration over what he described as a disturbing lack of legal knowledge that continues to cripple Nigeria’s justice system.
The IPOB Leader in an emotional outburst, faulted the action of the court, emphasising that the Chief Justice of Nigeria has no authority to dictate judicial decisions to Justice Binta Nyako.
Kanu insisted that he did not violate any law by agitating for Biafra which is within his fundamental human rights.
He said: “It is my right to agitate for Biafra. There is nothing anyone can do about it. I have committed no crime by seeking self-determination.”
Meanwhile, Kanu’s Legal Team led by Mazi Aloy Ejimakor, in a statement posted via Ejimakor’s X account had dismissed the court’s decision to adjourn their client’s case indefinitely as as illegal and a nullity.
“For avoidance of doubt, the court proceedings today concerning MAZI NNAMDI KANU is a complete NULLITY because the Judge, having been recused, possessed no jurisdiction to conduct the hearing. Thus, any Order of sine die purportedly made is also a nullity.”
