The chairman of Igbo-etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, Dr. Eric Odo, says the council has enrolled 1000 indigenes of the area into the Enugu State Health Insurance Scheme.
Odo disclosed this when a delegation from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku/Ozalla, paid him a courtesy visit at the Council’s Headquarters in Ogbede.
He said that the essence of enrolling the people into the health insurance scheme was to ensure that they have access to quality healthcare.
He added that the move was his own way of providing leadership and improving the health situation of the people.
The chairman said he would continue to take courageous decisions in order to better the lots of Igbo-etiti people.
“We are on track to develop Igbo-etiti Local government area in the way it truly deserves. Our commitment to uplifting the less privileged and marginalised members of society remains unwavering.
“In fact, I was elected as the Council Chairman with a clear mandate to transform the LGA and redefine its past reputation.
“I have adopted an open-door policy to ensure that every individual, regardless of their educational background or socioeconomic status, feels included and valued as part of our government,” Odo said.
The council boss assured his guest that he would not lose focus in providing the infrastructural needs of the people.
He added that the LGA under him would make a significant contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Enugu State.
Earlier, the Head, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Uchenna Okechi, congratulated Odo on his election as the council chairman.
