…Says Obi not a bad person

As political realignment thickens ahead of the 2027 polls, Bashir El-Rufai, the son of former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has blamed some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for poisoning his mind against the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi.
El-Rufai’s son who disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Monday, confessed that the former Anambra State Governor “is after all not a bad person.”
This is coming few hours after his father dumped the APC for the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
Hailing Obi as a nice person, El-Rufai’s son said his views about the LP presidential candidate has changed.
He wrote on the post: “Peter Obi is surprisingly not a bad person after all. My views on him have changed recently. My mind was poisoned by my former party members. Sai Obi !”
In a separate post, El-Rufai’s son urged Nigerians to join his father’s new party, saying, there would be “an online platform for all prospective SDP members to register and join by the end of this week.”
There were speculations that El-Rufai had been endorsed by some Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors as Obi’s running mate in 2027, but the PDP Governors’ Forum has since debunked the rumour, dismissing it as a fabrication by the enemies of the party.
El-Rufai, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s former right hand man, fell out with the President after the Senate refused to clear him for ministerial appointment after his nomination, citing security reports.
His allies believe the Senate was only acting a script for President Tinubu.
