The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the posting of AIG Abayomi Peter Oladapo to Head the Zone 13 Zonal Police Command in Ukpo, Ukpo-Dunukofia LGA, Anambra State.
Oladapo, who assumed duty Tuesday, begins as the 8th substantive AIG of Police at the Zone 13 Command.
AIG Oladapo took over from AIG Godwin Aghaulor who recently retired after 35 years of public service, and was received by top management and personnel of the command, Tuesday.
Speaking to Journalists at his office, Oladipo said he was aware of the security situation with the zone and had been sufficiently briefed about the efforts the governments were making towards tackling the challenges that bedevilled the states.
He said the Zonal Command under him would cooperate with the contiguous states which border Anambra and Enugu with a view to tackling cross-states banditry and crime.
“I have not come to destroy the architecture that is in place in the two states but to improve it in line with the vision and mission of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
“I am here to collaborate and work with the good people of the states with a view to reduce crime and criminality.
“We also appeal that Police as the lead internal security agency cannot do it alone, there is need for interagency synergy and collaboration.
“We will harmonise and galvanise every group that is involved in crime prevention and security in the two states,” he said.
