The Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the South-East zone has congratulated Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye over the affirmation of his position as the authentic National Secretary of the party by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu and jointly signed by, Chief Ali Odefa, Chairman and Hon. James Ugwu, Zonal Secretary, of the PDP.
The zonal Executive also commended the Supreme Court for safeguarding the party and the nation’s democracy from those intent on undermining it for their own selfish and political advantage.
The statement reads: “This is not merely a victory for Rt. Hon. Udeh-Okoye as an individual, but a triumph for the party as a whole and for the nation’s democracy at large.
“This judgment clearly ratifies the South-East Zonal Executive Committee’s nomination of Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, allowing him to complete the term of Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who secured the party’s nomination as its candidate for the Imo 2023 governorship election.
“It also validates Udeh-Okoye’s endorsement by the National Working Committee (NWC) on November 7, 2023, as well as various party organs.
“Consequently, the South-East warmly congratulates our party leaders, loyal members, and, of course, Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye on this significant victory.
“We are delighted that this ruling has reinstated party supremacy, and the implications of this decision represent a substantial win not only for the PDP but for all political parties in Nigeria.
“With this ruling, the Supreme Court has reaffirmed the saying that the okra can never be taller than the person who planted it. The party is supreme.”
