The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Imo State Command, has strongly refuted allegations of organ harvesting going on in the state.
Speaking to Journalists in the state, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Cajetan Ahanonu, described the claims made by an on-air personality, Chinonso Uba, popularly known as Nonso Nkwa, as “false, baseless, and misleading.”
According to Mr. Ahanonu, the Command, on 18th March 2025, received a distress call from a staff Mr. Ogeri Ude, reporting the sighting of a suspect, Mr. Stanley Ebo, who allegedly raped her 25-year-old daughter on March 5, 2025.
The NSCDC spokespersons disclosed that following due procedure, the suspect was arrested after the victim identified him, but denied the allegations, during interrogation citing mistaken identity.
Mr. Ahanonu explained that while in custody, the suspect developed serious health complications, and was granted bail on humanitarian grounds.
The NSCDC maintained that there was no case of organ harvesting, nor had any reports been filed to that effect.
The Command therefore called on journalists and media practitioners to verify facts before publication, warning against unverified narratives that could incite public unrest.
