Police in Anambra State have proposed the acquisition of modern forensic equipment to enhance evidence analysis and crime detection in the state.
The command also said it is to improve suspect profiling and increase efficiency in crime scene investigations, in line with global best practices in criminal investigations.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ikioye Orutugu, stated this during a strategic meeting with the sectional heads of the Criminal Investigation Department, CID.
At the meeting, Orutugu directed an immediate reorganisation of the CID formation; approved the establishment of a Political Desk Unit within the department to monitor political developments; conducting threat assessments; implementing risk management strategies; and providing security guidance for political campaigns and other sensitive events.
He reiterated that the ongoing engagement with the CID leadership will provide valuable insights into operational challenges and successes, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the Anambra State Police Command, just as he reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing, professional excellence, and safety of all residents of the state.
