Former governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Enugu State, Hon Chijioke Edeoga, on Wednesday formally paid courtesy visit to Governor Peter Mbah following his defection to the PDP the previous Monday.
During the visit, the former LP chieftain said he was committed to contributing to the wellbeing and progress of the party in the state.
“It is time for governance as the people of the state had made their choice,” Edeoga said.
Edeoga was accompanied in the visit to the governor by top members of the party in the state including the chairman, Hon Martin Chukwunwike; Vice Chairman, Chief Steve Oruruo; secretary, Hon Chukwudi Nnadozie; woman leader, Hon. Princess Peace-Patrick Nnaji, amongst others.
The new PDP chieftain commended the governor for facilitating the process, and described his action as unprecedented in the political history of the state.
The former member of the House of Representatives, said that the era of politics of hatred and prejudice was over.
He added that his action to rejoin the party was a courageous move to bring unity, peace and progress in governance and in the political landscape of the state.
Responding, Mbah said that the party had gladly welcomed him back home.
He appreciated Edeoga for taking the right decision, and assured him that he would be treated equally with other members of the party without discrimination.
The governor noted that the PDP at the national level had formed a peace and reconciliation committee with the primary purpose of facilitating the possible return of the aggrieved members to the party.
