… Says petition inadequate

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Thursday, rejected the petition to recall the suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, saying the petition failed to meet constitutional requirement.
Recall that the Kogi Central senator was suspended for six months shortly after she had accused Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, of sexual harassment.
Attempt to stop her from holding a Salah rally in her constituency earlier in the week also failed as her constituents defied the curfew and ban on public gatherings imposed by Kogi State Government to give her a rousing welcome.
INEC in a tweet on its ‘X’ handle said that the petition for Natasha’s recall fell short of constitutional requirement.
The post read: “The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”
