Leaders of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) have reaffirmed their loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dismissing rumours of disaffection within the CPC bloc.
In a statement signed by 23 prominent members of the former CPC, the group emphasized their commitment to the APC and its progressive ideals.
They described the APC as a collective project that promotes national unity, justice, and development, and expressed their determination to preserve the party’s legacy.
The statement, dated April 17, 2025, was signed by notable figures including Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, former governor of Nasarawa State; Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, former governor of Katsina Srate; Arc. Waziri Bulama, former national secretary of APC; Mallam Adamu Adamu; and Senator Ibrahim Musa, among others.
The group said the CPC bloc remains integral to the APC and has no intention of leaving the party.
It also said it aligns itself with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing his policies as necessary steps to rebuild the economy and secure a better future for Nigerians.
The CPC leaders urged party members to work together to strengthen the APC and Nigeria’s democracy, rejecting politics of division and desperation. They advised party members with grievances to seek redress through constitutional channels within the party, rather than resorting to public agitation or hasty exits.
They also called on the APC leadership to improve engagement with members across all levels, fostering inclusiveness and enhancing support for the party’s programmes.
The statement read in part: “We wish to state categorically that we have neither left the APC nor do we intend to leave. We align ourselves fully with the economic and governance reforms being undertaken by President Bola Tinubu.
“We must avoid actions that erode our unity and the stability of the nation. Those concerned should seek redress through constitutional channels within the party,” the statement advised.
“We therefore reaffirm our loyalty to the APC and our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement read. The CPC family remains a vital pillar of the APC and will continue to play a responsible role in its growth and in the progress of Nigeria.”
