The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, Mr Mamman Giwa, has reassured Enugu residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment throughout the Easter period and beyond.
The commissioner said this in an Easter Goodwill Message issued on his behalf by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu.
Giwa through the message felicitated with the residents as they join Christians worldwide in the celebration of Easter.
He directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Tactical and Operational Units to ensure comprehensive deployment of the command’s intelligence and operational resources at their disposal.
He charged the supervisory officers to ensure the strategic gathering of credible intelligence as well as intensify visibility patrols and surveillance operations across their areas of responsibility, with a view to safeguarding lives and property.
According to the commissioner, supervisory and superior officers would be held liable for any lapses in their areas of responsibility.
“The command extends warm Easter wishes to all Christians in the state; we want all to celebrate in reverence of Jesus Christ, who is the reason for the season.
“Easter is a time of love, sacrifice and renewed faith. I call on residents to embrace peace, compassion and goodwill during the celebrations.
“The command wishes Enugu State residents a peaceful celebration,” he said.
Giwa urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant.
He encouraged them to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency hotlines: 08032003702 or 08086671202.
