Governor Alex Otti, weekend, hosted the Foreign Minister of Senegal, Mrs Yassine Fall, during the traditional marriage ceremony of her son, Mr Samori Sombel SY, with Mary Aluba Okafor, at Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area.
Otti who described marriage as a divinely ordained institution, advised the couple to have respect and love for each other.
He urged them to approach marriage with understanding and tolerance.
The Governor blessed the union and promised to be present anytime and anywhere they choose for the white wedding ceremony.
Nigeria’s Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, who was represented at the occasion by the Honourable Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, advised the couple to mutually respect each other.
He urged them to overlook each other’s weaknesses and concentrate on their strengths for the good of the family.
In her remark, the Senegalese Foreign Minister, Mrs Fall, thanked Governor Otti and her Abiriba in-law for their hospitality and the reception given to her team.
She assured them that her son would take good care of their daughter.
Mrs Fall expressed her joy for the new relationship and handshake between her country and Nigeria.
She appreciated the Vice President of Nigeria, Sen. Kashim Shettima, for his statesmanly gesture to her.
The traditional marriage ceremony had in attendance the creme de la creme of Abiriba community including appointees of the Governor.
