The Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike, at the weekend paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of late football legend, Christian Chukwu, in his Trans-Ekulu, residence, Enugu.
During the visit, Agu-Ejidike was warmly received by the widow and children of the man affectionately known as ‘Chairman.’
Addressing the grieving family, Chief Agu-Ejidike expressed profound sorrow over the demise of the football icon.
“Indeed a great Iroko has fallen, and the entire sports fraternity is in shock over the loss of our own legend and the husband and father of this household.
“We are greatly pained by his untimely journey to answer the call of our Lord.
“I assure this family that we shall stand by you in this very painful period and do our best to ensure our legend gets a befitting burial.
“Just as importantly, we shall push the authorities in Abuja to immortalize the late Christian Chukwu, whose legendary landmark in the game of football is unequalled.
“We mourn his passing and pray for the repose of his gentle soul,” he said.
Responding, the first daughter of the legendary ‘Chairman’ expressed the family’s gratitude for his presence during their time of immense grief.
In a further demonstration of respect for Nigeria’s footballing heroes, Chief Agu-Ejidike also paid a courtesy visit to another living legend, Chief Emmanuel Oguejiofor Okala, at his residence in Enugu.
