The Enugu State Government says it has concluded plans to establish Electric and CNG Automotive Manufacturing plant in the state.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Obi Ozor, made this known while briefing the media at the end the monthly State Executive Council meeting in Enugu.
“Plans are underway for the establishment of Electric and CNG Automotive Manufacturing plant in the state, and also the launch of Enugu Smart Transport Programme that would see to the injection of over 2,000 electric vehicles within the next 150 days,” Ozor said.
The commissioner also said that the Enugu Air would commence operations before May 29, 2025, noting that 50 of the CNG buses purchased by the government were already in the state.
“Another 50 would arrive in the next two weeks, as the buses are also going to commence operations before the second anniversary of the present administration in the state,” he said.
In a related development, the State government says it has given approval for the development of the tourism sector which would be done in phases.
According to the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Ugochi Madueke, the tourism sites include, Nsude pyramid in Udi Local Government Area. She also said the state was going to have the first canopy walkway in the South-East measuring about 600 metres.
Also, a Cross of Hope measuring about 50 metres that would be located in Okpatu, and also sitting on a 580 metres above the sea level.
Madueke further said that the Ngwo Pine Forest would come on board in the same Udi LGA, where there will be the first Zip Line in Nigeria measuring about 300 metres.
The SEC also discussed the progress made towards the commencement of work both at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and at the Awgu Games village ahead of the hosting of the National Sports Festival in 2026.
