Ben Ezechime, Enugu
Hon. Sunday Umeha, representing Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Umeha announced his defection at an event organised by the APC at Ibagwa Aka, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, Umeha said the protracted crisis rocking the Labour Party at both the National and state levels have made it impossible for him to effectively represent his people.
The lawmaker said his decision to join the ruling party was because of the need to connect to the centre and bring his people to the center.
“There is a lot of advantages in plugging to the center.”
He also said that the APC-led Federal Government had served the interest of Igbos better than the PDP.
He further cited the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and Enugu-Port-Harcourt roads as some of the landmark projects the APC administration had carried out in the South-East.
His defection made it three LP House of Representatives members in the state that have left LP to join other parties.
