Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has condemned the murder of Barrister Ifeanyi Iloakasia, a lawyer and President General of Aguleri community in Anambra East Local Government Area of the State.
Ikengaonline reported that Iloakasia was attacked alongside his client on Thursday May 15th, 2025 near Agulu-Nanka boundary area of the state, while returning from the court.
Reacting to the killing in a statement signed by the Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo condemned the heinous act, describing the late lawyer as a strong advocate of peace.
He also expressed his deep condolences to the family and friends of the late Barr. Iloakasia, as well as the people of Aguleri who have been devastated by this tragic loss.
The Governor stated that although the criminal incident might have understandably heightened concerns among the public, he reassured people of the state that his government is taking the matter with the utmost seriousness.
He also said government is working with security agencies to ensure that the fleeing killers are caught and justice is served.
In a related development, Soludo also commended the bravery of the state security operatives who thwarted an attack on the security checkpoint in Isuofia on May 15, 2025.
While mourning the loss of one of the gallant officers during the confrontation, he said calm has returned to the area, and that security operations have been intensified to ensure the continued safety of communities.
“Governor Soludo deeply empathised with all those affected by these recent sad incidents and reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the peace and security being enjoyed in the state.
“He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate fully with security agencies as we work tirelessly together to eliminate the scourge of violence in Anambra State,” the statement read.
