Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration in Anambra State has given a name to the newly inauguarated government house in Awka, the state capital.
The name was one of the decisions taken at the 10th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting held at the government house on Tuesday.
Recall that the government house was one of the few projects inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his May 8 visit to the state.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the council decided to name the new Anambra government house Mini City “Light House Awka,” in line with the state’s slogan, “Light of the Nation.”
Additionally, Mefor said ANSEC resolved to establish the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ASERC) to regulate the state’s electricity sector. He said the recruitment drive for subject-matter experts to join the commission has been launched.
He said the council also approved several projects, including the construction of a factory warehouse for processing pharmaceutical-grade kaolin, extension of the Nnewi industrial line, and procurement of official uniforms for the Ocha Brigade.
He noted other key decisions by ANSEC to include the confiscation and sealing of premises used as holding places for child beggars, and a review of the Anambra Rebirth initiative aimed at restoring the state’s society and reshaping its moral and social structures.
Ikengaonline reports that the meeting marked the third to be held at the new government house since its completion.
