An industrialist and Chief Executive Officer of Eunisell Nigeria Ltd, Dr Chika Ikenga, has renovated and re-modelled the Chemistry laboratory of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike MOUAU, to boost research and training in agriculture.
Handing over the re-branded laboratory to the university’s management, the Industrial Chemist said the gesture was borne out of his desire to promote the study of Chemistry among students in appreciation of the positive impacts of the course in his life.
Describing Chemistry as the “subject of life,” the industrialist argued that without Chemistry the human society would not have attained its current level of transformation.
He urged young ones to embrace the study of Chemistry with passion, while predicting brighter future for graduates of Chemistry.
Dr Ikenga called for the promotion of the study of Chemistry in schools as a catalyst for development especially industrialisation.
Describing Chemistry as the centre of science, the MOUAU Vice Chancellor, Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, thanked Dr Ikenga for the gesture which he said would boost the strive towards attaining food security.
The VC solicited the support and partnership of other public-spirited individuals as well as organizations to enable the university attain its mandate.
Earlier in a remark, the Acting Head, Department of Chemistry, Dr Uchenna Igwe, also lauded the benefactor for the intervention which he said, would add more values to students of the institution.
