The Federal Government, Thursday, closed its case in the terrorism charge against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Trial Judge, Justice James Omotosho, of the Abuja High Court granted Kanu’s legal team, 14 days to file its written address on no case submission.
The court also gave the prosecution council another 14 days to respond.
The matter was subsequently adjourned till July 18.
Kanu’s Special Council, Aloy Ejimakor in a post on his X handle wrote: “Today, the Federal Republic of Nigeria CLOSED its case against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The Court granted the defense 14 days to file its written address on a no-case submission & 14 days to the prosecution to respond. The Court then adjourned to 18th July.”
Kanu has remained in detention since June 2021 when he was extra ordinarily rendered from Kenya.
