Lawrence Nwimo, Awka
Action Alliance (AA) candidate for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State, Ozo Jeff Nweke, has said his projects will better the achievement of Governor Chukwuma Soludo if elected to pilot the affairs of the state.
Ozo Nweke stated this during the flag-off of his campaign in Awka, the State capital on Thursday.
He made it clear that he is in the race for the governorship stool to rescue the people from mistreatment and bad governance in the state.
According to him, mine is not just a slogan. It is an expression of the type of governance I want to offer to the people of Anambra State.
“I know that the present governor is building roads. But the people need much more than that. They want governance to translate to better life for them.
“Under my watch as governor, it is “You First.” That is democracy – a government of the people. A government where the people are the CEO.
“The people you elect into power cannot become your bosses as the case is in Nigeria and Anambra State today. The people are the givers of mandate and power lies with them.
“I’m going to give our people freedom that will propel to display their innate abilities and help grow the economy.”
Jeff reminded that the election is the appropriate time to bring change to the state, noting that his government would drive rapid positive change in the education and agricultural sector.
“This is the time to bring back change. We must bring back quality education, infrastructure and economy.
“If you elect somebody into an office and he cannot deliver what he was elected to do, you have the right to vote the person out.
“The present system has subjected people to suffering and hardship. At the same time, they use our common resources to enrich themselves.
“This is the first time in the history of Anambra politics that the ordinary people have their own candidate. The suffering and stigmatization is what is driving this call for change.
“The bedrock of our economy is agriculture. We cannot be building beautiful infrastructure and the people will be dying out of hunger.
“My government will rate everyone equally and will give our people freedom to show what they have inside of them and the ingenuity to move the economy.”
He called on the people not to misuse their power by voting for the wrong person.
“When you give me the power, I will use it to your advantage. I will solve the problem of hunger.
“With your fingers, you transfer your power to any of the candidates vying for the Governorship position of the state.
“With that power, you fix the economy, develop the education and health care systems. You fix the lingering insecurity for over ten years,” he said
Earlier in a goodwill message, a Community Leader from Ezinano-Awka, Ozo Akubuilo, stated that it is only Jeff that can do the work better.
“Jeff is a thoroughbred home boy. He’s been doing so much for Awka and that is why we asked him to come and become the Governor.”
The Youth leader of Ezinano, Tochukwu Okoye, tasked supporters without voter’s cards to get theirs during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) commencing from July 8th.
“That’s your power to enthrone Jeff Nweke. I urge the youth, women and men to support the man who can take away their burden and wipe their tears away.”
The representative of the Yoruba Community, Kehinde Alade, pledged support for Ozo Nweke whose name he noted rings bell in the community.
The Hausa community also pledged allegiance to the candidate of the Action Alliance through their representative, Hussein Sani.
