Solomon Dalung who was the Minister of Sports under the immediate-past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 presidential poll even if he appoints his son, Seyi Tinubu as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC; and wife as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.
The former Plateau State Governor who spoke while featuring on News Central, Friday night, said that “the next elections will be a battle between Nigerians and Tinubu’s Government.”
He declared that the recently unveiled platform for the opposition coalition, would present Nigerians with a credible alternative to Tinubu whose policies, he regretted had brought untold hardship to the masses.
He said: “Like I promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, even if the 36 state governors of Nigeria defect to the APC and he appoints Seyi Tinubu as the chairman of INEC and maybe appoints his wife as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, they will be defeated in 2027.
“Because it is we against them. Nigerians should buckle for 2027, because the battle line has been drawn by the government of President Tinubu, which has declared war against the Nigerian people.
“The government has weaponized poverty, hunger and hardship.
“The only option we have now is to align with the coalition movement to reposition ourselves and confront the government in 2027.”
Other key figures behind the opposition include former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023, Mr Peter Obi; former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi; his Kaduna State counterpart, Nasir El-Rufai; among others.
