The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), Mr. Sadiq Abubakar, has charged officers of the Force CID to uphold integrity and professionalism in their duties in order to continuously earn public trust.
DIG Abubakar gave the charge on Thursday during an unscheduled visit to the FCID Annex in Enugu, where he interacted with officers and men of the formation.
During the visit, the DIG delivered a lecture highlighting the importance of diligence, integrity, and professionalism in criminal investigations. He expressed satisfaction with the turnout and commitment displayed by the officers in the course of their duties.
He encouraged them to remain steadfast in efforts to rebuild the image of the Nigeria Police Force, which, he noted, had faced various challenges in the past.
“Officers, including those under their command, must carry out investigations with the fear of God, devoid of favouritism, while maintaining honesty and integrity at all times,” Abubakar said.
He explained that the surprise visit was meant to boost morale and remind personnel of the importance of adhering to the highest standards of professionalism.
The DIG further urged officers to remain committed to their duties, stressing that their work is vital to maintaining law and order and ensuring that justice is served.
In his response, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police in charge of FCID Annex Enugu, Mr. Chukwudi Ariekpere, thanked the DIG for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit the formation.
He assured that the annex would continue to uphold discipline and dedication to duty, in line with the expectations and directives outlined during the visit.
Also speaking, the Public Relations Officer of the annex, CSP Godisgreat Arum, described the visit as a morale booster for officers and men.
Speaking on behalf of the personnel, Arum pledged renewed commitment to conducting investigations with utmost professionalism and integrity.
