Former Senate President, and the incumbent Chairman Board of Trustees (BoT), of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nigeria’s immediate-past President, Muhammadu Buhari.
Similarly, former Abia State Governor, and the immediate-past Senator representing Abia Central, Senator Theodore Orji, has registered his condolences over the passing on of the late President.
Buhari died Sunday evening at a London hospital after a protracted ailment.
Senator Wabara in a statement he personally signed, described the exit of the late Head of State as a monumental loss to Nigeria.
He said that Buhari was a firm believer in the unity of Nigeria and served the nation both as a Head of State and President “with everything in him.”
“Late President Buhari will be remembered for his firm belief in One Nigeria and selfless sacrifices to keep the country together despite our differences and challenges,” Wabara wrote.
The former Senate President who said he received the news of Buhari’s death with shock, expressed his condolences to members of his family, the Daura Emirate Council, and the Government and people of Katsina State.
Senator Wabara also commiserated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government, and prayed God to grant the family and the nation the fortitude to bear the loss.
He also prayed for the eternal repose of the soul of the late President.
Meanwhile, Senator Orji in a statement by his Special Aide, Hon. Ifeanyi Umere, described Buhari’s exit as a huge loss not just to Nigeria but Africa in general.
He described the former Head of State as “a legendary disciplinarian and a strong believer in Nigeria’s unity.”
The former Governor also condoled with the members of Buhari’s family, “the good people and Government of Katsina State” as well as “the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
