The Anambra State Government has officially taken over the administration of Isingwu Community Secondary School, Oraifite, under its Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) initiative.
The handover ceremony, held at the school premises in Isingwu, marked the transition of the institution from community management to a government-owned secondary school.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh—represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ifeoma Agbaizu—commended the Isingwu community for their dedication in building and sustaining the school over the past three years.
She lauded the community’s commitment to youth development through education, describing it as a vital investment in the future.
“What better legacy can one leave for the younger generation than the legacy of education?” she said.
Chuma-Udeh explained that the PPCP model is designed to foster collaboration between government, communities, and private individuals to ensure access to quality education for every child in Anambra.
She encouraged other communities to partner with the government, provided they meet the state’s requirements for school takeovers.
The Commissioner also urged the Isingwu community to construct a perimeter fence around the school to guard against land encroachment—an issue she noted is increasingly affecting government-owned school properties.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Mrs. Ebele Mgbemena, and her counterpart at the Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), Mrs. Bernadine Anagor, praised the unity and dedication of the Isingwu community toward educational development.
They assured that qualified teachers and students would be deployed to the school in the 2025/2026 academic session and urged the community to remain actively involved in the school’s growth.
In his remarks, the Chairman and President of Isingwu Progressive Union, Chief Godwin Ugochukwu, said the school was established to provide accessible education for children in the community and neighbouring areas.
