The South-East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA), a non-political organisation, has empowered over 1,000 individuals in Anambra State as part of its efforts to enhance economic well-being and mobilize support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 reelection bid.
The empowerment programme, held Saturday in Awka, featured the distribution of various items, including mini buses, motorcycles, grinding machines, sewing machines, and hairdressing kits.
In addition to the equipment, SERHA disbursed financial support to beneficiaries: 100 individuals received ₦200,000 each; 200 received ₦100,000; 300 received ₦50,000; and 500 indigent families received ₦20,000 each.
Speaking during the event, SERHA National Coordinator, Hon. Belusochukwu Enwere, said the initiative underscores the organisation’s commitment to economic development and poverty reduction in the state.
“Today marks the official inauguration and empowerment of the SERHA Anambra State Chapter. Over 1,000 people have been empowered with tools and cash support. We selected beneficiaries based on their wards across the local government areas,” he said.
Enwere said the initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on economic empowerment and job creation. According to him, the president has shown goodwill to the South-East, which should be acknowledged and reciprocated.
“One such gesture is the establishment of the Southeast Development Commission and the approval of over ₦150 billion in investments to support local businesses. This is commendable, and I urge our people across Nigeria to support President Tinubu for his reelection in 2027,” he said.
He dismissed claims that President Tinubu lacks support in the Southeast, insisting that the growing organic support, particularly in Anambra, proves otherwise.
“The notion that Tinubu is not marketable in the South-East is false. We’ve been to Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, and Imo, and the turnout has been massive. People believe in him,” he added.
Also speaking, the Anambra State Coordinator of SERHA, Comrade Alphonsus Muonagolu, noted that the Tinubu administration has made significant efforts to address socio-economic challenges, despite ongoing hardships.
“While challenges such as rising living costs remain, the administration is taking steps toward long-term reform. I urge Nigerians to be patient and optimistic about the future,” he said.
Muonagolu also appealed for logistical support, including vehicles and office spaces at the state and local government levels, to enhance SERHA’s outreach and mobilisation efforts.
He pledged to intensify grassroots engagement with local leaders, market women, and youths through door-to-door campaigns to secure President Tinubu’s second term.
Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will boost their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
