Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has pledged to deliver even greater infrastructure transformation across the state following the inauguration of five modern bus terminals under Phase One of the state’s Integrated Transport Infrastructure Projects.
The newly commissioned facilities include: Holy Ghost Terminal 1 (Enugu Central Station 1) – for interstate transport; Holy Ghost Terminal 2 (Enugu Central Station 2) – for intercity transport; Gariki Terminal (Gariki Central Station); Abakpa Terminal (Abakpa Central Station); and Nsukka Terminal (Nsukka Central Station).
Taking to his official X handle on Friday, Mbah said the terminals were designed to modernise transport services, improve commuter experience, and position Enugu as a leading transport hub in Nigeria.
“This is just the beginning,” the governor declared.
“Phase Two will deliver more transformative projects, including the 9th Mile Logistics Hub and Central Station, Emene Logistics Hub and Central Station, Obollo Afor Inland Container Hub, Awgu Logistics Hub, and Owo Central Station.”
Mbah attributed the progress to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to remove oil subsidies, saying it freed up critical resources for infrastructure investment.
“These milestones would not have been possible without the bold decision of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to remove oil subsidies – unlocking resources for transformative projects,” he said.
The governor also commended the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Obi Ozor, and his team for their commitment to delivering the projects.
“With these developments, we are not just building terminals; we are building the future. Tomorrow is here,” Mbah said.
