We never collapsed our structure into ADC – APGA

...Vows to claim Abia in 2027

…Vows to claim Abia in 2027

    Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia State chapter, has dismissed as “false and misleading” media reports that it collapsed its party structures in the Abia South Senatorial Zone into the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

A statement by APGA’s Publicity Secretary, Abia State, Chukwuemeka Nwokoro, said there was no iota of truth in the said report.

“The said report is an outright falsehood and the handiwork of a few mischief makers who double as political paupers looking for what to eat,” the statement made available to Ikengaonline read.

It further read: “The only way those behind the said report can feed their stomachs is by peddling unfounded and baseless reports in order to actualize their political greed and selfishness.”

Continuing, it read: “Without any fear of contradiction or equivocation, APGA wishes to state further that the party in Abia State is very intact, strong and formidable, as all the APGA structures in the three political zones of Abia State are functioning optimally within their respective zones and in the state at large.

“APGA remains very formidable and prepared to take over the Abia Government House come 2027.

“It is never in doubt that APGA, as a major political party in Abia State, has enjoyed relative peace across the 17 local government areas of the state since the shipwreck of Chief Edozie Njoku and his co-travelers in Abia State who wanted to reap where they did not sow.

“For the avoidance of doubt and to put the records straight, we wish to state unequivocally that Chief Charles Nwanyanwu, who was mentioned as the originator of the baseless news, is not a member of APGA as his name is not in the APGA ward register in Ward 6, Aba South, where he comes from.

“The said Chief Charles Nwanyanwu resigned from APGA in 2020 and joined the PDP, and the party record from his Ward 6 in Aba South LGA shows that he has not been readmitted into the party after his resignation in 2020.

“It is only an impostor that thinks he can achieve a cheap political goal by unlawfully using the name of APGA to earn peanuts by peddling unfounded and baseless rumors that APGA in Abia South Senatorial Zone has collapsed its structure into ADC.

“The said Chief Charles Nwanyanwu is not a member of APGA, let alone parading himself as the Zonal Chairman of the party in charge of Abia South.

“The gathering at Aba led by Chief Nwanyanwu can best be described as a gathering of political jobbers who were recruited by one Edozie Njoku and his co-travelers to cause confusion in APGA, and when it was clear to them that APGA is not open for political merchandise, they shamefully disappeared.”

APGA said its leadership in Abia “is intact and performing well with Ambassador Sunday Onukwubiri as the State Chairman,” adding that there is no leadership crisis in the councils or wards contrary to the said misleading publication.

The statement claimed that APGA “is the political landlord in Aba,” having produced Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South Senatorial Zone, and Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, member representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

It further said: “APGA structure in Abia South Senatorial Zone under the leadership of Chief Lucky Erondu is unshakable, with his formidable and reliable LGA Chairmen in the zone working tirelessly as a team to promote the ideals of the party.

“These LGA Chairmen include Hon. Victor Urom for Aba North; Hon. Chinagorom Nwanyanwu for Aba South; Hon. Joshua Chidiebere for Obingwa; Hon. Samuel Nwohu for Ukwa East; Chief Lazarus Nnanta for Ugwunagbo; and Pastor Emeka Stephen for Ukwa West.

APGA also said it would not want to join issues with “the self-acclaimed State Chairman of ADC in Abia State on his uncomplimentary language against the party, as doing so will amount to promoting and marketing an unmarketable product.”

The party, therefore, urged Abians and members of the public to “disregard the false and malicious statement” released by those it described as “desperate and inconsequential political urchins looking for their daily bread.”

“It is obvious that this bunch of political liabilities cannot have a better way and means of achieving their petty and cheap purpose without claiming to be what they are not,” the statement added.

The statement called on the Commissioner of Police, Abia State, “to immediately arrest Chief Charles Nwanyanwu and his co-travelers for impersonation and fraudulent misrepresentation by using the name of APGA in the state to deceive the general public for selfish gains.”

“We are bold to state that the gathering where the baseless press statement was made was a gathering of butterflies as far as APGA is concerned, and such a gathering cannot in any way affect the success of APGA in Abia South Senatorial Zone, let alone the state,” the statement read.
