The Kaduna State Government has expressed shock and sorrow over the derailment of a train on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line earlier today, which left passengers and their families in distress.
Governor Uba Sani, in a statement, condoled with victims of the accident and assured residents that emergency measures were underway to assist those affected.
According to the governor, medical teams were immediately deployed to provide treatment for the injured.
“Our commitment to the safety and well-being of our citizens is unwavering,” he said.
He further disclosed that the state government has been working closely with the Nigerian Railway Corporation and security agencies since the incident was reported.
“We have mobilized resources to safely evacuate passengers and secure the site,” Sani stated.
The governor also announced that a thorough investigation had been launched to determine the causes of the derailment. He appealed to members of the public to remain calm while investigators carry out their work.
“The Abuja-Kaduna rail line is a vital artery for economic growth, unity, and connectivity across our state and nation. We are determined to restore public confidence in this critical infrastructure,” he added.
As part of immediate relief efforts, the governor pledged that the state would cover all medical expenses for the victims.
“Kaduna State stands firmly beside you. We will provide every support necessary during this difficult time,” he assured.
Meanwhile, emergency responders continue to work at the scene to assist passengers and ensure safety. The state government has promised to keep the public updated as investigations progress, stressing its commitment to transparency and accountability.
