A joint operation by the Anambra Police Command and other security agencies has resulted in the successful dislodgement of an ESN/IPOB militia camp in Aguluezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of September 2, 2025, involved a coordinated effort by the police, troops from the 302 Artillery Regiment and 14 Field Engineer Regiment, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Anambra State Vigilante (Agunechemba).
Spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the security forces destroyed the camp and dislodged the militia members, who fled with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.
According to him, a white Lexus 470 SUV and several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered from the scene.
Ikenga said the area has been stabilized, and monitoring continues to ensure the safety and security of residents. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to fighting criminality and restoring peace across the state.
“The Anambra State Police Command reassures Ndi Anambra of its unwavering commitment to sustaining the fight against criminality and restoring peace across the state,” he said.
