The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed as fake a widely circulated report claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed a list of the party’s state chairmen across the country.
In a statement on Sunday, the party’s national leadership described the report, titled “Coalition Update: INEC Confirms ADC State Chairmen Nationwide,” as false and the handiwork of individuals bent on causing confusion within the ADC.
“This report is fake news, obviously engineered by individuals who have shown relentless determination to sow confusion within our party and mislead the public,” the statement read.
The party emphasized that INEC had neither officially nor unofficially issued any confirmation of its state chairmen. It further clarified that the constitution of state leadership structures remains the exclusive prerogative of the ADC, subject to its internal processes.
“The process of constituting and ratifying state leadership within any political party lies squarely within the party’s constitutional prerogative. INEC only recognizes what the party submits through the appropriate channels after due process. As of today, no such comprehensive list has been submitted or confirmed by INEC,” the leadership stated.
The ADC urged its members and stakeholders to remain calm, vigilant, and rely only on official communications from the national leadership.
“The strength of any political movement lies not just in its numbers, but in its discipline, structure, and fidelity to internal democracy. The ADC remains committed to these values,” the statement added.
The party also advised the public to disregard the purported list and assured that any authentic update on its structure would be disseminated through verified channels.
