Former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has joined millions of Catholics and people of goodwill across the globe in celebrating Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
In a goodwill message titled “Seventy Years of Grace,” Obi described the pontiff’s life as a testament to faith, humility, and courage, noting that his journey has been a living witness to God’s grace.
“On this blessed day of your 70th birthday, our beloved Pontiff, Pope Leo XIV, I join the Universal Church and all people of goodwill in congratulating you, Holy Father,” Obi wrote.
He further commended the Pope’s leadership of the Universal Church, praying that God continues to strengthen and guide him in carrying out his sacred task.
Obi also highlighted the symbolic significance of the pontiff’s birthday coinciding with the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross, describing it as a reminder that trials can be transformed into triumphs through perseverance and fidelity to Christ.
“The Cross, once a symbol of suffering, has become the sign of victory, redemption, and unshakeable hope. In the same way, your own life reflects how faith, perseverance, and fidelity to Christ can transform trials into triumphs,” he stated.
Obi prayed for the Pope’s health, peace, and fulfilment in the years ahead.
