The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed a recruitment advert currently circulating on social media as fake, warning Nigerians not to fall prey to fraudsters behind the scheme.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Commission said the impostors created a fake portal — inecrecruitment.com — and urged unsuspecting job seekers to submit applications for non-existent vacancies.
INEC stressed that it is not conducting any recruitment exercise at the moment and does not operate such a portal.
“Our attention has been drawn to a fake advertorial currently circulating on social media, giving the impression that INEC is recruiting for various positions. This is false. The Commission is not recruiting,” the statement read.
The electoral body urged members of the public to disregard the fraudulent notice, describing it as a ploy by criminal elements to defraud desperate job seekers.
INEC further advised Nigerians to rely solely on its verified official communication channels for authentic information about its activities.
