A heartwarming moment at Ngbo Central School in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State turned into a life-changing encounter for a young boy, Chinonso Agbo, after his joyful dance during an official event drew the attention of the Ebonyi State First Lady, Chief (Mrs.) Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Power and Energy, Hon. Chinedu Awo.
The boy, who had never been to school due to poverty, captured the admiration of guests with his spirited dancing during the grand finale of the two-year stewardship and constituency project commissioning of the member representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze.
Moved by the child’s enthusiasm, Hon. Awo, a former state lawmaker, approached him and discovered that Chinonso, from a poor single-parent home, had never stepped into a classroom.
The governor’s aide immediately gifted the boy and his mother ₦1 million to enable him to begin his education and improve their standard of living.
“I saw the boy dancing throughout the event, and something in me said I should bless him.
“When I asked if he was in school, he said he had never attended one. I decided to support him and his mother with ₦1 million to help him start school. I believe it was his spirit that brought me here today,” Awo told journalists.
Touched by the boy’s story, the First Lady, Mrs. Nwifuru, who was the special guest of honour at the event, immediately pledged to build a new house for the family.
“Empowerment is the foundation of sustainable development.
“When you empower a person, especially a woman or a child, you are not only improving one life but transforming an entire community. This child’s story reminds us that compassion and opportunity can truly change lives,” the governor’s wife said.
The event also featured the commissioning of a fully furnished and equipped ultra-modern hospital at Ekwashi Ngbo, facilitated by Eze Nwachukwu Eze to promote peaceful coexistence between the Ngbo and Agila communities in Ebonyi and Benue States respectively.
In his address, Eze outlined his achievements over the past two years, which include infrastructural projects, scholarships, agricultural support, and legislative efforts toward establishing a Federal University of Environment in Ebonyi State.
He reaffirmed his commitment to accountable representation and grassroots empowerment, saying his focus remains on “projects that directly touch lives and bring government closer to the people.”
The touching encounter between the governor’s aide, the First Lady, and the young boy has since drawn widespread admiration from residents, who described it as a reflection of the compassionate and people-centered leadership currently shaping governance in Ebonyi State.
