Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, says Governor Alex Otti is more interested in creating wealth and enabling businesses to thrive than distributing money to individuals.
Ajagba stated this while receiving the new leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abia State chapter, led by Chairman, Deacon Steve Oko.
He said past administrations relied on handouts, but the current government is focused on building a productive and self-reliant population.
“The Governor has not come to share money but to create prosperity. True empowerment helps people become productive, not dependent,” he said.
Ajagba attributed the decline in crime to Otti’s investments in infrastructure and a business-friendly environment, stressing that the administration has achieved significant development without borrowing.
“Since assuming office, this government has not borrowed a dime, yet development is ongoing across all sectors,” he said.
He dismissed opposition attempts to discredit the government ahead of 2027, insisting Abians have seen the difference in leadership.
Ajagba commended journalists for their professionalism and said the administration values media partnership. He noted that the Governor’s monthly media chat reflects his commitment to openness.
Earlier, Deacon Oko said the visit was part of ongoing engagement with stakeholders and reaffirmed the media’s duty to hold leaders accountable. He urged Gov. Otti to sustain the progress recorded so far.
“From our observation, it is clear that Gov. Otti came prepared with a vision for Abia’s transformation,” Oko said.
