The Director-General of the Project Development Institute (PRODA), Enugu, Dr. (Engr.) Peter Ogbobe, has urged members of staff to continually promote peace and unity in the workplace to ensure sustained progress.
Ogbobe made the call during his remarks at the opening ceremony of the 2025 PRODA Games Festival held at the institute’s sports arena.
He described the festival—and sports in general—as a strong unifying force, particularly within the work environment.
According to him, the festival, now in its third edition under his administration, has fulfilled its purpose by fostering unity and creating an atmosphere of conviviality among staff.
“It has achieved its objective by bringing conviviality among the workers. It has brought us together; we eat together, play together, and improve the work environment to remain as one family,” he said.
The DG noted that this year’s festival featured improvements, including the introduction of new sporting events such as indoor games, draft, and chess.
Ogbobe commended the athletes for turning out to compete, stressing that beyond promoting unity, the games also help staff maintain physical fitness.
He recalled that PRODA’s football team emerged third in the 2024 Inter-Agency Games Competition held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“PRODA took third position in football among other science and technology-related agencies in Nigeria, which is part of the motivation for this annual games festival,” he said.
Ogbobe urged the athletes to uphold the spirit of fair play, emphasizing that the festival is about friendship and love.
“Please don’t break anybody’s leg. Take it easy and try to play safe,” he added.
