Award-winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, have lost one of their twin sons, Nkanu Nnamdi.
In a statement issued by Omawumi Ogbe, the family confirmed that the 21-month-old passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, following a brief illness.
The statement expressed the family’s deep sorrow over the loss and appealed to the public for privacy during this difficult period. It noted that the family is devastated and has requested prayers and understanding as they grieve in private.
The statement added that no further comments would be made and thanked the public and the media for respecting the family’s need for seclusion amid their profound loss.
