Human rights lawyer and former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi, has reaffirmed his support for former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, describing him as the best presidential material among Nigeria’s current crop of aspirants.
In a social media post on Sunday, Amadi dismissed criticisms against Obi as selective and politically motivated, insisting that while Obi is not perfect, he stands out for his integrity, humility, and record in public service.

Amadi, who described himself as an educated and informed citizen, said his support for Obi is based on reasoned judgment rather than sentiment. He noted that Obi’s perceived flaws pale in comparison with the shortcomings of other contenders, particularly those who have held or are holding high public office.
“Peter Obi is not perfect. In fact, he is not anywhere close to perfect. But he is the best presidential material amongst those who want to be president of Nigeria today,” Amadi said.
He described Obi as one of the least materialistic and corrupt public office holders he knows in Nigeria, adding that the former governor demonstrates a stronger passion for the common good than most Nigerian politicians. According to him, Obi’s humility and performance as Anambra governor since 1999 place him above many of his peers.
Amadi also questioned why Obi is subjected to what he termed “scrupulous moral review” while other candidates, including President Bola Tinubu, allegedly escape similar levels of scrutiny despite what he described as “hundreds of blemishes.”
He alleged that some of the criticisms against Obi were being pushed by hired writers working for entrenched political interests, warning Nigerians, especially youths, against being misled by what he called “insincere grammar.”
“If the most honest and committed person is the victim of excessive moral scrutiny while corrupt and incompetent aspirants are spared, then it is clear that such attacks are the work of hirelings of the establishment,” he said.
Amadi concluded by urging Nigerians not to be distracted by negative narratives, insisting that Obi remains the best available option, particularly at a time when many young Nigerians are demanding a different style of leadership.
“Peter Obi is the best you have now,” he added.
