The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has indefinitely suspended the Commissioner for Works, Stanley Lebechi Mbam.
Also suspended is the Commissioner for Infrastructure Development for Concession, Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara.
The suspension was announced in a public statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Monday Uzor.
Mr Uzor, in the statement, said the suspension was for alleged dereliction of duty.
According to the statement, the affected commissioners are to hand over all government property in their possession, including their official vehicles, to the Secretary to the State Government with immediate effect.
No further details were provided regarding the specific circumstances surrounding the alleged dereliction of duty.
The suspension takes effect immediately and will remain in force indefinitely, pending further directives from the state government.
The action may not be unconnected to criticisms of the administration’s inability to deliver road construction projects within record time.
There have also been allegations of improper supervision by the duo, which allegedly led to poor and shoddy jobs by contractors handling various road projects across the state.
