President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, the Presidency announced on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Uzoka-Anite will now serve as Minister of State at the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, marking her third portfolio in the Tinubu administration.
President Tinubu conveyed Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Prior to this appointment, Oyedele, 50, from Ikaram, Akoko, Ondo State, chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which undertook a major overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system.
An economist, accountant, and public policy expert, Oyedele holds an HND in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has also completed executive programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, where he rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. He is also a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
The nomination marks a key move in the Tinubu administration’s economic team, as Oyedele brings extensive fiscal expertise and policy experience to the Ministry of Finance.
