Former Governor of Ekiti State and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ayodele Fayose, has again, insisted that power must shift to southern Nigeria in 2023.
Fayose who was one of the presidential aspirants at the PDP primary election that produced Atiku Abubakar as the party’s flag bearer, argued that it amounted to injustice against the South if the North which would be completing a two-term of eight years in 2023, to retain power after the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.
The PDP chieftain who took to his Twitter handle, said that Nigeria would be in for a shock in the months ahead.
“The current President of Nigeria is a two-term northern Presidency, thus implying that it must be a southern Presidency in 2023 or nothing.”
“Awa ‘South’ lo kan’. (Nigerians should await details soon),” he added.
Meanwhile, some commentators said Fayose was planning to dump the PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC, to support Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential project.
