Protests and outrage have rocked the Otulu community in Oru West local government area of Imo state, following the alleged shooting of no fewer than fourteen youths, by armed men suspected to be members of Ebubeagu security outfit in the state.
It was gathered the incident happened last Sunday when the victims were on their way to attend a traditional wedding.
Pained by the ugly development, the youths of the community were seen in a viral social media video, conveying some of the lifeless bodies of the youths in protest against what happened. Just as some of the villagers said some were confirmed dead, and others were injured.
A woman who did not mention her name related to the deceased spoke in tears saying: “Chiboy and his brother were killed. They joined their fellow young boys to attend a traditional marriage ceremony. These men saw them and shot them to death. I will revenge. I am not happy. This is an abomination in the Otulu community. We are not happy.”
Some other protesters were seen speaking angrily and saying: “We don’t want Ebubeagu again in our community. Enough is enough. You can’t be killing us.”
At the time of filing this report, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Michael Abattam, said the incident was under investigation.
