Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has said that the death of Professor George Obiozor, the President-General of Ohanézè Ndígbo, is a great loss to Ndigbo and Nigeria.
The Governor made the remark in a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.
Prof. Obiozor, a foremost Igbo leader and former Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States and the State of Israel, was announced dead aged 80 on December 26, 2022.
Expressing his sadness over the passage of Obiozor, Soludo said “Prof. Obiozor’s death is a big loss to the people of Imo State, Ndigbo, the Nigerian nation and the world at large.”
On the life and times of the late leader of Igbo apex group, the Governor said: “Prof Obiozor was a great diplomat and a solid intellectual in the diplomatic circles.”
He noted that the late Igbo leader truly impacted the world around him as a leader and would therefore be sorely missed.
He commiserated with the family and the Government of Imo State over the irreparable loss.
