The Primate of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd Enugu Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against electoral fraud during the forthcoming general election.
Ndukuba said this at a Thanksgiving Service in commemoration of Professor Chinedu Nebo’s 70th birthday/retirement held at Abakpa-Nike, Enugu.
Nebo was former Vice Chancellor of University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and Federal University, Oye Ekiti as well as Minister of Power in then Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
The service was used also to inaugurate one kilometer road leading to the Cathedral Church built by an oil magnet and philanthropist, Prince Arthur Eze.
Ndukuba said that INEC should ensure that the “new dawn” and “new Nigeria” most Nigerians yearn for would not be truncated.
The Cleric further called on Nigerians to use their Permanent Voter’s Card to effect the needed positive change they desired.
He said: “Nigerians should get ready, nobody should be sleeping when action is needed.
“It is not enough to keep complaining; whereas you ought to be part of the solution.
“The general elections provide an excellent opportunity to elect credible, sound and God-fearing leaders that will make the desired change.”
The Cleric noted that, Nebo had served both God, the Church and society in an exemplary manner.
“Nebo has stood out as a man that truly loves and follows God Almighty in all sincerity.
“He served as Minister, Vice-Chancellor in two major Federal Universities and the Church without blemish.
“People should emulate this great man of God, who loves humanity and progressive growth of others,” he said.
