The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has postponed the governorship and state assembly elections scheduled to hold on March 11 by one week.
The new date for the elections is now March 18, 2023.
A very reliable sources told Ikengaonline that the decision was taken in a closed-door meeting between the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and his commissioners over the governorship election.
INEC had earlier on Wednesday approached and received the approval of the Appeal Court in Abuja to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines in readiness for the Saturday governorship and state assembly elections in spite of the protestations of the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
