Former Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase (rtd.), has been sworn-in as the new Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Arase was Wednesday morning sworn-in by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Executive Council chamber at the Presidential Villa before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
His swearing-in is coming two months after the Senate confirmed him as the PSC Chairman.
Some of the dignitaries that witnessed the glamorous event were the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha; and Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.
Ex-IGP Arase was the 18th indigenous IGP.
The Edo-born ex-Police boss retired in 2016 after a meritorious 35 years in service.
Speaking later with State House Correspondents, the new PSC boss promised to prioritise the welfare of officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force.
Arase read the riot act against corruption, vowing to deal ruthlessly with any personnel engaging in fraudulent activity.
