There is palpable tension in Lejja community, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, as the administrator of Nsukka South development center, Mr. Chijioke Ugwuoke has allegedly attempted killing a Security personnel, Mr. Onyebuchi Nweze, of the same community.
Ugwuoke was alleged to have sent his boys to kidnap and possibly kill Nweze who hails from Umuakpo village of Lejja.
According to a reliable source the administrator allegedly sent his thugs with weapons to kill and bury the security agent.
Sources told Ikengaonline that the bone of contention between the two was some illegal buildings the administrator was constructing at Orie Agu market place in Lejja on a land alleged to have been illegally acquired, and the security agents stopped him from doing so.
“Nweze may have been attacked because he happened to be one of the security agents who stopped Ugwuoke from erecting such illegal structures in the market,” our source said.
Mr Nweze was, however, rescued by Security operatives at Ede Oballa Estate along Nsukka road and is currently receiving treatment at St. Anthony’s hospital, Nsukka.
Currently, police and other security agents are said to be on the manhunt for Mr Ugwuoke as his whereabouts is still unknown.
Speaking to our reporter, some residents of Lejja, confirmed that ever since Ugwuoke emerged as the administrator of the development center through the assistance of Mrs Favour Ugwuanyi, a close ally of former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and immediate past Chairperson, State Post Primary School Management Board, he had not allowed their people any sense of rest.
He was also said to have employed his own neighborhood watch which he used to terrorise the people of Lejja.
